I,ve crossover cable and 2 network adapters and I don't understand what this sentence mean" nix the crossover for a couple straight cat 5 cables "

for a wired connection you need to connect one computer to a router and connect the router to a dsl modem. then connect the other computer to the router.
for a wireless computer, connect one computer to a router and the router to a modem. then you need to install a wireless broadband card on the second computer.
