He deserved to get fired for that!! In fact, he deserved much worse! Blacks aren't the only ones who commit crimes! Republicans suck.

You guys don't understand the point he was making. Bill Bennett was commenting on a study that found that since abortion became legal, crime has been reduced, and the study attributed the reduction in crime to the decrease in "undesireables." Bill Bennett was saying that even if the economic argument is true, then that is still not an ethical argument.
Then he made the analogy that if aborting all black babies would reduce crime, does that mean it would be right?
He was on point there. Blacks are responsible for crime to a degree much larger than their percentage of the population. I think it's something like, they are 12% of the population, but commit roughly half of all violent crimes.

This was taken out of context. The subject was how some people make "far-reaching, extensive extrapolations" more specifically dismissing a caller's suggestion that the "lost revenue from the people who have been aborted in the last 30 years" would be enough to preserve Social Security's solvency.
His comments were meant to illustrate how, if you apply the same logic differently, some people could come to horrific conclusions.
Bennett clearly stated that aborting all African-American babies "would be an impossible, ridiculous, and morally reprehensible thing to do!"
The crime rate among the African-American community is, unfortunately, much higher than in the average white community, therefore the rate of crime would drop a bit. But he WAS NOT suggesting that as a solution! The blogs & websites that labeled this as "Bill Bennett's Abortion Fantasies" were taking his quotes way out of context.
HAVING SAID THAT, I have to wonder how someone could say something so stupid & insensitive. It does make me suspect he is a bigot, but in the origional context, that can not be certain

Hey, there was a Senator from Louisiana who said they couldn't get rid of the Black poor people in New Orleans, but God did. There is the Republican Governor of Virginia who made a racist remark towards a person working for the Democratic challenger in French Tunisian language, which describes a person as a monkey and as sh!t, so I am not surprised about the Republicans who are racist (not all, just some of those in government).

I seen this on a Forum a few months back, Yes it was disgusting, My question back is who said he was a hero? And just because he made a statement such as this come down to all Republicans hate minorities? I am not Republican, I am a white women who was appalled by that statement and I was also glad to hear the others on that forum show how totally absurd and senseless his remarks were. I wish I could give you the exact name of what I was watching but I can't. You are correct in your statement and many people (I hope) back it up.

No, he is not a racist. That quote was only part of what he was saying and the liberals used it against him to make him look bad.
Some book was written and some people believe that abortion cuts down on black crime and he thought that was a horrible and immoral thing, to celebrate black babies being aborted. He made those comment to blast those people and to show how horrible and stupid, and racist their attitudes are. Bennet has also done a lot through his foundations to help inner city blacks. Mainly through educational programs.
Republicans are bad salesmen and don't pander to minorities. Democrats have created generations of modern welfare slaves. We will give you the welfare, you give us the votes, creating poverty stricken Americans. You think that is good?
Bush is the friendliest president ever for ILLEGAL ALIENS, illegal immigration has increased 4x compared to when Clinton was in office. Bush's sister in law and some of his neices and nephews are half Hispanic. Bono praised Bush as being the greatest American president ever in helping Africa.
Black home ownership and incomes are at the highest rates ever. Black businesses are more numerous than ever before.
Bush has the most ethnically diverse cabinet ever in the history of our country.
The Democrats pay. They pay lip service to blacks. They support corrupt black con men like Jesse Jackson who are more interested in promoting racism and lining his pocket with cash, instead of helping the people.
I think Republicans are better for minorities.

But it's fine for the New Orleans Mayor to call it a Chocolate City? He didn't get fired for saying that, he actually got reelected, but isn't that racist too? Let a white mayor call a city a Vanilla City and see how fast they get fired. There's a double standard in this country involving racist remarks and it's disgusting.
And as a matter of fact doing like he said would, in fact, lower the US crime rate because the majority of crime is committed by blacks. He could have put it better, but it is true.
