I had mild to moderate acne a few years back and I had seen a dermatologist and tried some cream (forgot the name) which made my skin red, blotchy, and flaky.. so that didn't work out for me. I had tried Proactiv around the time when it first came out and it seemed to only make my skin flaky (I did use it for about two months, should've had clear skin, as they claim).. Fastforward to now, I'm an adult and I still have very mild acne which disturbs me more than it should. *I've decided to give Proactiv another try.. Anybody tried it? Is it all BS?* (I don't have it in me to drink big amounts of water, by the way.. cause I know that clears the skin.)

yes it makes your skin flaky and dry because your skin peels. after that you're skin is renewed. i've tried proactiv 2x already and it still works without me changing anything on what i eat or what products i use.

It really depends on the person. Different products work for different people. I have mild to moderate acne. I tried ProActiv and it did clear me up some, not completely since I was still getting breakouts. After using it for a year, it just stopped working. My acne got worse. The same thing happened to my friend. However, she started using it again last year and she says that it has been worked for her briefly before she started breaking out worse. I will never use ProActiv again, but my friend still uses it. She'll use it for some time, until it gets worse and then she'll stop. It's a cycle for her.

I've used it, my daughter has used it. The key is to use it, and give it time. I think that you haven't given the products enough time when you have used them in the past. Most of the time your skin will be red and flaky in the beginning, just wait and you'll be happy with the results. We have used harsh creams/treatments in the past through a Dr., and have had expensive monthly facial treatments which helped, but Proactiv works. Their clay mask is amazing. Give it another try and be patient. Water is good for your health, I don' t know that it will 'clear' your complexion.

I had the same results with Proactive as you did. Now I keep to a daily routine including the 5 essential steps to skin care which are cleansing, exfoliating, toning, moisturizing, and protecting.

I use TimeWise® 3-In-1 Cleanser (normal to dry) which takes care of the first three steps to healthy skin. I follow up with TimeWise® Age-Fighting Moisturizer (combination to oily) every day, morning and night. Then I use a medium coverage foundation (noncomedogenic = won't clog pores, hypoallergenic = goes through strict allergy testing).

Those are the basic steps, but you can also try TimeWise® Microdermabrasion Set twice a week after you cleanse, before you moisturize. This will exfoliate deep down, past your acne, to reveal your smooth skin and give you a healthy glow.

If acne still persists, you can throw in the Blemish Control Toner 3 or Acne Treatment Gel, which you would use after the 3-in-1 cleanser. ALWAYS moisturize after you cleanse! If you don't, your pores will produce extra oils to compensate which will then clog your pores and cause more pimples.

My daugher has unfortunately inherited the gene of acne. She has had EXTREMELY bad acne for her entire life, she is now 16. She has used about every single over the counter acne cleanser, wipe, cream etc...with no results...used doctor prescribed prescription meds, both oral and topical with no results. I was skeptical about the Proactive but decided to give it a try after months of her asking. She started using it and the acne started literally clearing up in about two weeks. She has to use it faithfully, and does...her acne is so much better. I would highly suggest you try proactive if you've failed at every other med there is!!!!

My sister had severe acne---like disgustingly bad, and nothing worked for her except Proactive. When she first started using it it did nothing but after like 3 weeks her skin was clearer and after 4 months her skin was wicked smooth, now a like 3 years later-- her skin has nothing on it except for the occational pimple. She's a model for Esquire too, which the skin thing helped with as well

Definitly try it!
Sometimes it get sworse before it gets better---but it certainyl does work wonders.

For me it grew to become into finished BS. yet nevertheless, each and every person's dermis is distinctive. Proactiv is extreme in benzoyl peroxide, which maximum folk get aggravated via. It motives a burning feeling using fact this is oxidized. even the gentle dermis line via proactiv grew to become into harsh for me. I switched to St Ives. Apricot scrub, using fact not purely is it organic and gentle, its 2% salicylic acid, while in comparison with 10% benzoyl peroxide. Its additionally granuled so i might propose using it 3-4 circumstances a week. you only could desire to test and see if your dermis can safeguard it. maximum suitable of success

I tried proactiv and it did not work for me at all and made mine worse actually. I use the Murad system and it works pretty good for me. They even have a kit for sensitive skin. I use the regular kit and have good success although during the winter I use the all over treatment part every other day to prevent over dried skin. I was on birth control orthro trycyclin and that also cleared my skin up.

I swear by it..... BUT.... i found the lotion made my skin oily - so i stopped using that. I was using the cleanser in the shower and toner until my skin cleared up, and now i just use the cleanser daily in the shower... i think it is great! So does my mum, and shes in her 50's!!! (im in my 20's - so it works for all ages!)
