I'm sure this has been asked before, but I swore a year ago before it hit $3.00 a gallon that it would NEVER get that high because SOMEBODY would do something about it. Now, can someone (without a political biased) answer me as to what is the problem? I think if it was Bush's fault, there would be actual facts and a huge uproar, and the Dems would point this out, but what is their solution anyway? Don't the Republicans say to drill in Alaska and others say don't? And some say it's not cause of war, but hello, when did the price start going up!! I thikn it's crazy and I want to know what can be done. It's a HUGE impact on most people's lives especially when public transportation isn't offered where we live. Thanks for your honest, nonbiased opinons

The price of Gas is coming down as the summer comes to an end and vacation travel dwindles. It s like that every year BTW. Also if high gas prices make Bush look bad and if he could do anything about it why would he let them get that high to start with? If anything, if he had any control and if he was as evil as his opponents claim, would we not have the lowest gas prices ever? Would Bush not "MAKE" them low so that he could be popular?

Make better choices. Don't vote for anyone who is now in office, for one. Don't vote for anyone who is in the majority party in Congress, for another, since they have been in power for some years and everything's gotten worse for regular working people. Encourage your friends to do the same, and take as many people as you can to the polls to vote on Nov. 7. On the personal side, don't drive a car powered by gasoline. I sold my gasser and bought a VW Jetta diesel that I run with 100% vegetable oil biodiesel. Last fill up I got 48 mpg, and not one penny of the fuel costs went to the terrorists who sell us crude oil. Doing this has dropped my consumption of gasoline from 20 gallons/week to 0. If enough people did this, we wouldn't care about the oil in the Middle East, and we wouldn't be in a war there.
As to your other questions, drilling in the Arctic Reserve would maybe drop gasoline prices a few cents, maybe a dime a gallon, somewhere around 10 years from now. And that's according to the oil companies. As for oil NOT being the cause of the war in Iraq, ask yourself this: Would we have invaded if Iraq's primary export product was turnips?

I think in part the blame goes to the American citizens. I still see people buying huge gas guzzling SUVs. Most of the people I know haven't drastically changed their driving habits. Further, we, the people, haven't demanded more fuel efficent vehicles, more cost effective fuels and so forth.
Of course there is plenty of blame to go around and our political leaders (of both parties) have a big share in it. They are too busy with partisian politics to work together for the good of the people.

On an up note, predictions state that they may drop to $2.00 a gallon national average by Thanksgiving. Hope may just be right around the corner.

i think the truth of the matter is the sale of fuel and the taxes on gas are the only thing propping the economy up ... im not an expert but this is my guess.

because nothing can be done...the volatility in the middle east is one factor and the rise in demand by china and India is another factor...i think if they were no war...they would be about the same or about 50 cents less...
