Check with your local Tenants Union or Attorney Generals Office for your rights as a tenant in Tennessee.

My parents use to be landlords for over 17 yrs. We live in Washington State. My mom said that you have to still give at least a 20 day notice; by the 10th of the month latest. You have to get a notice from your employer stating the relocation of your job. Depending on the manager and or company that you are renting from, they will not charge you penalties.

If it comes down to it, you can always find another individual to take over the remainder of your lease. But once you move out you are responsible for the rent of each month or day until the apartment is re-rented to another individual, if your manager does not accept the letter from your employer.

I would not mention the purchase of your home. They may think that your boss is trying to help you out of the lease without paying penalties.

Talk to your manager and explain the situation of commuting to work and see what can be done. Also, you can contact an attorney for free advice and possibly learn some of your rights.

Well, you are in the same boat I was in. I had another place to move to but had 6 months left on my lease. NOTHING I could do would allow me to break it without paying for the remainder of the lease owing. Being evicted still does NOT release you of obligation to pay most leases. Pay an attorney $50 and have them review your lease to see if there are any 'outs' that you have legally OR do what I did...I went to my landlord and was honest about my situation and they agreed to let me out of the lease IF I paid 2 months of my lease...that was better than paying the 6 months and automatically losing my deposit as well. It beat having an eviction on my credit record too. Good luck and Congrats on the new house!!!

I suggest have a party and lots of noise and have them ask you to leave by the end of the month. Get evicted. Personally you now own your own home you are never going to have to use them for a reference

Unless your landlord feels charitable, you are stuck with the conditions of the lease. Sorry, but it happens all the time.
