my mother is a nurse and she says it is becouse theres a thin layer of skin between them!

Yes. But they can be twisted into the wrong position by a violent accident or (more rarely) in one's sleep. That's called "torsion of the testicles" or something like that. It's supposed to hurt like when you get kicked, but constantly. I've read of guys who cry and scream until they get it relieved. And to make it worse, something in there can get tangled and you could need surgery or maybe even amputation of one testicle (because it can cut off circulation). Fortunately this is not a very common ailment.

Back to your question: Even if one nut was removed (OUCH!) it would still be connected to the rest of your body on one side by a small tube. So it would still be either the right or left nut. Good night!
