Whether it be political extremism, diet extremism, fitness extremism, wealth etremism, celebrity extremism. Whatever happened to Aristotle's Golden Mean? No vice of excess or vice of deficiency. Just a healthy medium. What do you think happened to America?

It is easier to market an extreme product or point of view than a moderate one. We are victims of the increasing influence of all media in our lives, and the access that this gives to marketing experts who want to sell us things or ideas. Those experts pick extreme things to sell us that are largely unrealistic or unattainable, so that we will be unable to achieve the goals they set for us and instead consume more as we try to achieve those unattainable goals.

I am sorry, but I really have no clue. I have asked the same thing myself.

I think a lot of it is the pendulum swing back from acceptance of all types (body size, politics, religion etc.) and we have gotten to where it is now my way is the only way.

Maybe it is that people feel better about saying they are doing "the most" they can do in whatever it is. They are the most conservative or doing the most to diet etc.

If I am right, I hope the pendulum swings back the other way while I am still alive...

There is this word that rhymes with omoderation.

If you didn't guess moderation, then i can't help you.

People don't know the word moderation,

One twinky a month won't ruin your figure. Weed won't burn you if you only chief two or three times a week.

If you let something get a hold of you(drugs or something) it controls your life, if you swear to never drink again, it still controls your life.

Because too many people are going for the fast and shallow answer.

It takes less effort to just lock onto one thing, and not ever bother to re-evaluate your situation or think about underlying issues.

I think it is partly people obsessing on one thing in an effort to distract themselves from more depressing issues of life. The modern existence is an existential one, and that is tough to look straight in the face.

It started when prayer was taken out of public schools. When you're taught that you're just a monkey, why not live for the moment? Screw everyone else! Thanks to liberals we have moral relativity!

Chadness: Stop walking around with a victim mentality!!!
