I've seen the preview of it. It shows midgar with no damage, which is one thing that leads me to believe its a remake. It then shows Aerith walking. Then it shows a train pulling in and Cloud jumping out. So i'm pretty sure its a remake which i'm perfectly fine with cause i never got to play the original and this one has better graphics. Also does anyone know the release date on it.

Personally, I would love for there to be a new FF:VII game, but, I doubt they will. FFVII is one of the greatest FF's because it was the first rendered in 3d which gives Square huge props for that because it completely rearranged the gaming industry. I love this game, but I doubt there will be a remake, I'm sorry man, I wish there would be too.

it's true, there is no CONFIRMED remake in progress.
there are several petitions to have a remake created, and even some petitions to make sure there is never a remake (like you'll find on my myspace)
what you saw was a tech demo. ask anyone. it's called a "tech demo" because it is a technical demonstration of what a game would have looked like if it was created on the ps3 instead of the ps1.
when confronted on the question of whether there was a remake or not, square-enix spokesmen denied the rumors that there was a remake being made.

and think about this, if you will.
they just finished making FFV for gba, FFVI for gba, and FFXII for ps2, along with FFVII:DoC, and an expansion for FFXI, and even started on FFXIII
doesn't seem proper that they'd have enough time to MAKE an updated FFVII, and if they did, with how much other projects were going on, the game would not be as well made as it could be

As of now it has not been confirmed that Square Enix will be making it... Sony asked Square Enix to make a Demo of what a previous game would look like with PS3 graphics For the E3 convention last year. and of course, they used FF7.
The rumors going around is that it will be a remake of the original with next gen graphics.

It's gonna be a remake but with extra content and special hiding stuff. Cus there is no point to remake a game unless you have extra stuff the first one didn't.

The movie you saw is just to show PS3 hardware and graphics capability. I doubt they will do remake. FF XIII is the latest game for PS3.
