Top 3 would be: 1. United States of America 2. Japan
3. Germany

To comment on the previous answer focusing on the debt: Yes it is true - You shouldn't buy into what the B.S. Media puts out there. Also - yes there is a large debt - but really - what does that mean anyways? The real way to be able to see for yourself is to actually go to those countries and see how people are living and how things are. The debt is meaningless because, like the media, it is hard to tell what is behind all of that. Even with a debt like that (being so much) The U.S. is obviously the most power-full. That has a lot to do with it being the richest country. For instance look at Saudi Arabia - said to be one of the U.S.'s money resource - but if you go there you will find that the people are living so poor. Sure the people in the government there are filthy rich but that is less then 1% of 1% of the population. Germany, in 3rd place, have a power resource issue. Japan, in second, has people living in every crack all on top of each other. But in the U.S. everyone is driving Hummers and other SUVs' leaving the lights and t.v.s' on in their over sized homes like it doesn't matter. That should be an obvious clue to which country is the richest.

Hi D 2
You will be told by the news media, goverment and others that the United States is the richiest nation in the world. However the federal Goverment owes $8, 499, 867, 894,780.00 Your share toward payoff is $28,463,26 The goverment is borrowing about 5 million a minute. The citizens of this nation owe 40 plus trillion The goverment and the citizens for the most part make loans from Japan and China. I can't tell you who is the richest nation. I sure can't believe it is the one that owes the most. Go on line to: the national debt clock and view for yourself.

What is your thought?

Depends on how you measure wealth. By sheer size of the economy, the U.S. is still the richest. By per capita income, the richest country in the world is tiny Luxembourg.
