It would depend on the person as to whether an inner quality even would die.

When you are rich you are no longer able to live like everyone else. If you was walking down the street and someone mouthed off at you and you punched him in the mouth. Well you might get in a fight or at the most you would just get a 50 dollar fine. But if you was rich you would be bombarted with reporters and the person you punched in the mouth now has to have 1 million dollars because you hurt his feelings.

Anything you say now that you are rich is now a major issue. You are forced to keep everything to your self.

You can't hang with old friends because they can not keep up with you anymore because they can't afford to.

Your goals are no longer the same as everyone elses.

So no the outer quality changes first because you are shut off and have to hide to be yourself and with everyone trying to get your money you seem to be cold because you have to be. And then your inter quailty dies. But it is not the rich persons fault it is how people deal with him.

You now even have to build a big wall to keep everyone out and put gards on the gate to keep your kids from being kidnaped and even send them to private school because you don't want them to be pushed around because they are the rich kid.

There are two sides to everything.

I don't think it's the same for everyone. Each person will have a weakness that will come out as the pressure of wealth increases.
Some lose their humility, others their compassion.
But, I think it is also possible to maintain equilibrium. Money may not make a habitually sad person happy, but if it comes to a confident and morally and ethically secure person, things may stay OK

I agree with humility. I also think compassion. Then again a person would have to possess these qualities to begin with in order for them to die.

Being humble.

The first thing a person wants to do is show off their new toys. New cars, new home, new yacht, new island in the caribbean.
