I moved to a new place last year in January and this has affected me emotionally because I had to leave my friends and things I adored. Due to this I have gained some weight but not that "big mamma" kind of weight gain. Nowadays people always guess my age wrong and think I am in my 20s which really upsets me. I havent gained that much weight but my face kind of carries that impression and maturity of an older person. I am just 17 but I have kind of grown up because of family problems. I talk like a mature person and now I have started looking like one. I really need to stop it and get my life back.
Will losing some weight help?

keep your head up and hang in there, don't feel ashamed or regret maturity either, maturity is a gift that some people go their whole lives without, let it guide you to better ways of coping with the changes in your life besides eating or being less active. You have your head on strait, now you just gotta get out there and take some action, join a club at school and be more aggressive in making friends, find something you really enjoy doing or try something new...self confidence will follow and the weight should become less of a worry.

You can't change DNA genetics. I look ten years+ younger than my actual age. I drink a lot of water and been taking vitamins and exercising since I was a teenager you might want to try that ,But nothing wrong with looking mature and only positive attributes from acting mature . Doesn't sound like you've got a problem

It sounds like your attitude has matured and that it what is coming across to people. Don't worry so much about how people perceive you. You need to only worry about taking care of yourself. I don't think losing weight is the answer. I think you just need to get used to the whole package of the "new you".

I don't think that, losing weight is always the answer.. but, if you think that will make you feel better than do it. Looking older isn't such a bad thing..I wouldn't think too much about it.

It probably would. At least they still think you're in your twenties, not your thirties. (Most girls your age want to look a little older, so you really are more mature, anyway.)
