Even the slightest shaking can get a baby's brain to bash around inside the baby's skull which can cause permanent brain damage or death. These babies may be alive but I bet they aren't well. They may have learning disabilities that you don't even know about yet.
Why would anyone shake a baby??? When you are done shaking I would be willing to bet that the baby would still be crying. How stupid are some people???!!

I'm being honest when I say..........I'm not sure where the heck you come up with these things.
Everyone knows that shaking a baby can cause damage to their little brains. It can shift their brains in their skulls.
Shaking a baby will NOT cause the baby to stop crying, it will make the child cry even worse. Babies can not comprehend that shaking is meant to make them quiet.
And anyone who shakes their child should be reported immediately. This behavior is right up there with leaving your baby in a car. It is unacceptable behavior.
And just because it doesn't harm one baby doesn't mean it wont harm the next. Are you willing to take the chance? You hear about babies dying everyday from this absolutely horrific behavior.

There is a difference between jiggling a baby and shaking a baby. When you say that you see people shake babies all the time, I'm sure you're referring to the gentle jiggling and bouncing that is often soothing and/or distracting to babies. "Shaken" babies are those that are shaken in anger. It whips their heads back and forth on their necks and causes damage to their brains from bouncing against their skulls. Babies should NEVER be "shaken", but jiggling and bouncing (very gently) are OK.
Hope this helps.

Shaking a baby is horrible! My best friend's nephew was shaken at his daycare and kept in a closet so she didn't have to hear him scream.
The daycare provider was arrested, but he had many challenges. His retinas had become detached and his head swelled from the brain swelling. He didn't walk or talk until he was 2. Great kid now, he is 10 years old and a smart and rambunctious one at that.
Please, don't shake the baby. If you know someone who is, be that baby's guardian angel and call the police, QUICK!

Bad, bad idea to shake a baby. They don't have the muscle control that adults (or even kids) have in their necks. Whiplash is the least of your worries, too. They can die from it. It's called 'Shaken Baby Syndrome'.

What they do is called "shaken baby syndrome." Babies can and do die from the brain damage that the shaking causes. In those cases, the "shaker" is charged with murder.

Do you see people SHAKE babies or rock them firmly? There is a difference. If you ever see a person shake a baby, please contact someone. That could hurt them and it shows anger. If they are so angry as to do this what else might they do. Just remember, babies come first before anyone.
