i left school last year with A-Levels but wasnt drawn to the idea of university, i went into a trainee broker role in london which i felt wasnt for me, so left. I am now considering a job as a trader after using IGIndex spread betting and would like to know of any possible avenues i may be able to go down to reach my goal? any help would kindly be appreciated. i am happy to work in an arcade but would prefer to work for some sort of fund/bank but have no idea who to contact about it, i am happy to move anywhere in the world.
I also understand that the majority of these jobs require degrees, so maybe i would be better off going to uni? or failing that does anybody have any other ideas of jobs i could do?

If you have a source of income, try taking the Securities Industry Diploma exams. Three papers, one of which is compulsory, but you can choose to do a paper on financial futures and options. You DON'T need a Ph.D. in maths, though you do need to be comfortable with numbers and spreadsheets. Spread betting is not the same as options, and to get an opening somewhere as a trainee, you should probably consider a wider range of products, such as futures, commodities or currencies. Buy a copy of the Investor's Chronicle, and see the derivatives houses advertising in the back - you could approach each of them directly.

short of getting the degree, you have few options (sorry for the pun)

Depends on how bad you want it, doesn't it?

You could try for some type of internship at minimum wage for awhile, or even offer your services free for a summer or year. I did this myself with a trader for two years, offering my computer knowledge for his mentoring, and worked a part-time job on the side.

Many have started at the bottom, working as floor runners or back-office help, getting as close to the traders as possible until someone takes you under their wing or gives you a chance. You will still have to study a lot, stand head and shoulders above everyone else, and be a hard worker and work long hours.

It might be easier, and not take any longer, to just get the degree. But then, the degree is no guarantee either.

Good luck.

Yes And No. You didn't give a time frame... Do you want to become a millionaire by age 18 and one month or by the time you're old and grey? Will you be willing to do what it takes to become a successful options trader? You don't give a time frame for your trades... are you going to be in the market for several months, days, or minutes? What strategy will you use to determine whether you're in a boom market or a declining market? What do you plan to do in a market that is not moving? These are just some of the questions you need to answer before you know the answer to your question.

If you want to be a good options trader, you need a PhD in mathematics and decent programming skills. These days, you can't allow humans to trade; computers are much better at it.

A common misconception is that you will have to be a financial and business expert in order to successfully trade binary options. However, this is not true at all. Learn here https://tr.im/Bfg2p

Perhaps it’s true when it comes to traditional stocks trading but definitely not true in the case of binaries. You don’t have to be an expert to predict the movement of certain assets.

i have attended a lot of seminars, read counless books on forex trading and it all cost me thousands of dollars. the worst thing was i blew up my first account. after that i opened another account and the same thing happened again. i started to wonder why i couldn,t make any money in forex trading. at first i thought i knew everything about trading. finally i found that the main problem i have was i did not have the right mental in trading. as we know that psychology has great impact on our trading result. apart from psychology issue, there is another problem that we have to address. they are money management, market analysis, and entry/exit rules. to me money management is important in trading. i opened another account and start to trade profitably after i learnt from my past mistake. i don't trade emotionally anymore.
if you are serious about trading you need to address your weakness and try to fix it. no forex guru can make you Professional trader unless you want to learn from your mistake.
