Ok... Let me first complement u for asking a really interesting Q...
Something that will make one think for a while that, was this something that he/she ever thought of...
Yes there is an intermediate stage between life and death.
Lets look at it spiritually, u r dead when wen ur soul leaves ur body forever, and u r alive wen ur soul is still within ur body, right? But the intermediate stage is wen ur soul leaves ur body but only for sometime, not forever. Then it comes back and possesses the body, like it was earlier (and it is very normal).
Now this stage is called Meditation. When u concentrate ur mind on one thing without thinking about anything else, ur soul also concentrates between the eyes, that is where the so called third eye is located. from there the soul starts its own journey towards the Almighty. This position wen the body is in meditation but the soul is out temporarily, is wat u want dear... the INTERMEDIATE STAGE...

I too think it is coma, when a person have various visions (acc. to medical reports taken on the real cases who come back). They reported that they have the common vision of passing through a tunnel like thing in high speed & after some time they get to see a very flashing light at the other end of the tunnel, then they can't remember anything more. Some reported that they have seen their dead relatives on the way, but doctor's say, that can be the patient's imagination, not proved yet.

everything else really. There are really only two states that matter to anyone, when you're born and when you die. Some people are able to lead a fulfilling and enjoyable life while others struggle and detest life. I guess in a sick and twisted way from the moment we are born we are all waiting to die but trying to do something meaningful to occupy that time in between. Hope this doesn't get anyone depressed!

I think it is coma. From this state very few people comeback. In this stage a person can be alive biologically but dead otherwise like an hanged up PC or a programme without any human interface. This period can be brief or long.

I shall quote from Bible here.Jesus said: One has to die in this world to be born into the other. Means, one has to stop living in the materialistic world to be born into spirituality. The transition stage through which one has to go from one stage to another is full of trials and efforts, where the body and mind are getting delinked from one to transit to the other. This is the intermediate stage between life and death.

Happy home coming ,A joyous soaring in to the spaceless space. Your faith in " doing the right thing", your cause "to humanity I give myself" ever held so close to heart yet , are the two robust wings overtaking all turbulent storms on the way , giving you a lofty silky sail. across the infinite stillness . In the twilight of the shores of timelessness, the whispering silent- voice, portraying your life's re-cap is the unique ly fabulous intermediate state that transpires to expire in death.

Nobody knows it. But u can talk to the person , touch the person, say nice things in the ears , and pray for the person. Even the person seem to be unconcious u can show that u r with that person.Try to do this till the person gets up or die. This is what I think I will do.

there is no intermediate stage between life and death for the Bible clearly states that "Dead are conscious of nothing at all". (Bible Book of Eccl. 9:5). Either we are alive or dead, but there is no intermediate stage.

Your subquestion suggests to me you are wanting to know about the Near-Death Experience (go Google, see you next year , lots has been written about it). You might also be thinking about the state advanced yogis can enter, called "samadhi". (Read the Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda or some other work by a true yogi to learn about this one.)
