I just had the most wonderful experience..and I've gotta tell somebody....I took the ferry over to Victoria today to visit a friend for lunch (its about a 2 hour trip) had a great day..but on the way back to Vancouver, coming between a bunch of islands we ran into a huge pod of orcas--killer whales...about 20 of them ,adults and babies, travelling and breaching repeatedly...the captain stopped the ferry and we all just sat there and watched...I was on the 6th deck of the boat and the view was tremendous..I didn't know that orcas travelled in such large pods..I thought about 7-10 was normal...it was sunset on a warm and windless day and these huge creatures were just right beside us....A national geographic special couldn't have done it better. It really blew me away. And it makes me realize how petty some of the things on this site are.sorry folks.but there's a lot of beauty out there as well. BTW does anyone know how I can find out what pod this was.I know they r refered to by letters

I guess you're right Laura...I just wanted to share this in contrast to all the negativity on this site. I couldn't seem to find an appropriate site to put it on..but I just wanted to bring a little happiness in here..that's all

Hey, that must have been a very moving experience. That's such a beautiful place to see such a thing, too. Thanks for posting. No idea how to find out about the pod. Google is the best I have to offer in response to your question ;)

PS - I like the contrast! I also appreciate the everyday up beat questions sometimes posted here. We have so much more to our lives that just the "gay" stuff that's so typically asked in this section, eh.

Asker, are you a freshly born again, or maybe a recently "reborn" or reawakened Christian? I'm asking because you seem to be viewing all this with a fresh set of sensitive eyes. I was once there. But I've seen a lot of it in institutions of higher learning, many work environments, common people encountered pretty much everywhere. Sinners and scoffers are here, there, and everywhere. The natural inclination is always to interpret one's world view through the lens of one's localized experience. Another answerer or two above has already enumerated horrible battles and disasters over the course of human history that must have had people convinced they were living in the Last Days. In fact, the first century Christians thought they'd see the End Times during their lifetimes. God also sends "chastisements", which are a different thing from the Last of Times, but by definition they're still unpleasant punishments, and people often die in them. The world has gone on through them. We might be due for a bit of that here in the US. Is the Final Judgment near? I can't say for sure, but whatever's going to happen, fact is everyone's judgment is imminent, and it's going to be fairly soon relative to Eternity on the timeline. You know not the day or the hour. Be ready. God bless.

Sounds awesome. :) That reminds me of one time this summer I was on a ferry from Victoria to Anacortes, WA and a pod of orcas had been spotted, but it was way off in the distance. All I could see were the fins coming out of the water. It would have been really cool to see them up close though! I've always thought whales were kind of magical...

Awww...I would have loved to have seen such a sight. I had no idea they travelled in pods that large either. And their little babies were with them? That is cute and beautiful at the same time.

Rather than posting this "observations" here, why don't you start a blog? It's a more appropriate place for this sort of thing, because some people would report this as chatting or not a quesiton.

Even if this is not really the appropriate place for your little note, I think it has done me good. I share your delight in nature.

I'm so jealous what a great situation to be in if you had a camera in your hand.
