Looking at putting a 200-4r in my 67 GTO. What all will be involved with this swap and has annyone used this trans before?

In this case both prior respondents have given you good advice. Torque is the true killer of the overdrive tranny you referenced. Aftermarket parts to strengthen it are available, but to get one to live behind your 400 with a heavy footed driver is expensive. I'd figure 5,000.00 for trans alone before installation expense. Further your not going to gain that much mileage when cruising to justify the cost.

You will have to modify the transmission cross member and have a drive shaft made. You may be able to buy a crossmember that will work. You can try to google overdrive transmissions and your car. The fluid lines running to the cooler will also be different, but that can easily be modified. Also your transmission indicator is not going to be accurate unless you have an overdrive floor shifter. But the shift indicator is merely a nuisance.

this trans probably isn`t strong enough for what your going to put in front of it . parts inside are stamped out corgulated thin metal drums. High hp will destroy it.
