My family (who are white) is planning on moving to Bangor, Maine. My son and I are of mixed race, I need to know how we will be treated there, do you think there will be any problems? we now live in N. California in a very diverse city, I'm nervous about the move so I need some opinions.

lived there for a couple of years and had absolutely no trouble whatsoever. everyone i ran into was friendly and gracious almost to a fault. you might want to be prepared for an inordinate number of alocoholics (although that might have changed significantly over the past couple of years). there's a lot to do and plenty to see (if you get a chance to do nearby bar harbor definitely do it). i really did enjoy my time there. hope you will too.

good luck.

Maine is 99% white. But most mainers are friendly and mind their own business. I really doubt you will have any problems.maine people are know for their aloofness so don't take that type of behavior as having to do with your race its just the way we are.
