You idiot, I think that if you want to have normal, non juvenile, non pregnant at 12, non killing, good child, you should teach them these things. Moron.

If I had children I would object to someone teaching them that they had to spend a whole day every week doing nothing but worship a non-existent being. (Why do 10 Commandment sports fans always forget that one?)

And that if they don't live by an absurdly arbitrary set of rules they will suffer unimaginable torment forever -- but there are thousands of inconsistent sets of these rules, and if they pick the wrong one, they'll burn anyway.

It doesn't take belief in your particular -- or any other -- imaginary thing for people to understand that murder and theft are wrong. These are not ideas that are owned by any one religion. They are easily comprehensible by any human.

Tim McVeigh (and the kids of Columbine) were raised Christian; didn't stop them from committing mass murder -- nor GWB or Cheney or Rumsfeld, Rice, or Gonzales for that matter.

The only hope you have of changing our minds is to pray for us, night and day, every moment you have.

Go on. Turn off your computer and pray for each of us to be enlightened.

Don't stop until all non-believers have seen the light.

well i personally think its crazy having metal detectors in schools but then again i dont live in america and there has to be something seriously wrong with a child that is going to take something to school or anywhere actually that would even warrant a metal detector to even allow you into the school grounds so anyway. but yes i do believe that no one but the parent should be teaching a child that sort of stuff - stealing, lieing, murder , but really that should be common sense to bring your child up to know right from rong, im not saying that its always the parents fault but they should atleast bring the child up the best they can and i think also that if a parent is stupid enuf to be on drugs or watever - maybe they should realise that they have responsibility to think of such as their child - which should come first nonetheless.

You can teach all of those things, WITHOUT teaching kids religion, or Christianity, moron. Kids ARE taught in school that it is wrong to steal, kill, etc. Do you think they just let stealing and violence go unpunished in schools? No.

America is still a very religious country. Sweden is not. Now is Sweden burning to the ground right now because they kids over there aren't taught religion in school, and because the majority of people there are not "practicing" Christians??? No.

I'm agnostic, and I've gotten by more than FINE in my life. Things are pretty damn good actually.

Don't you understand that so many wars happen because of religion????

I have taught my children not to steal or murder, and have taught them about sex, without the help of religion. It has worked out fine for me. My kids are polite, they show respect for others, they don't steal, murder, etc.
The problems with society aren't that religion isn't in schools, it is that many parents aren't teaching their kids right from wrong and the consequences of doing wrong. Many parents don't take the time to know their kids and make them comfortable with talking to them about anything. The problems lies with how people parent their children.

So which church teaching would you like in your child's school? Since we do live in a nation filled with wonderfully diverse people of faith. Are you comfortable with Muslim teachings? HIndu? Mormon? I respect and value the teachings of these religions, but have a feeling that what you are proposing is Christian teaching, only. Why is it up to the schools to teach these things? Shouldn't these values begin at home?

the ten commandments are the only way to get violence and crime to fall. human laws mean nothing. without the ten commandments murder is okay and so is teen pregnancy. look i can be a sarcastic dick too.

That reminds me of a song by Carman, he says much of the same thing, in the 50s the biggest problems in school were talking in class and chewing gum and now their war zones, filled with drugs, violence, guns, you name it. I wonder if that woman responsible for pushing God out of schools ever regretted her actions.

I have already taught my children right from wrong but by all means if someone can reinforce it and make them understand how wrong it is, then yes their input is very appreciated.
