Is it bad for me to dowload things like Vongo if i dont have a hardware router?

I have a laptop and I want to download vongo so I can watch movies. But I dont want crap coming through my laptop and cause a virus. So will my laptop get jacked up if I dont have router? I have the anti virus stuff on my computer that came with it but I'm not sure if that is enough.

You should be fine with a software firewall, a router isn't necessary - but it is a good precaution anyway.
