It sounds like you may have a problem with overheating.
Blow out the inside of the computer case with compressed air paying close attention to all fans and heatsinks.

Have you timed it? is it exactly 5 mins on the dot? It could be the point at which your CPU is getting too hot. Swap out the fan and see if the time is the same.

To check to see if it's the motherboard, remove everything except the RAM, and CPU. If it still turns off after 5 mins, you may need to replace the motherboard.

There are a variety of possibilities. One is that you may have it set for power saving and if you are not using the keyboard it is set to shut down.(you were not clear if this was when it powered down) in which case you can go into the settings (windows systems usually as you boot up you hold down either f8 or delete key to get into system settings)

You could have heat issues which might mean a faulty fan that needs replacing, or you might have a virus that shuts it down. check all these things out and then if you still have no answer you might have to take it to a computer repair shop.

Your PC power option might turn off your monitor after 5 minutes, or your PC as well. Make sure your power option is not set to turn your PC off after 5 minutes. Go to Control Panel. Power option, and check the setting.

This could be caused by a number of things. Try checking the temperatures of your hardware. Many computers will automatically restart/shutdown when they get too hot to prevent damage to componants.
