I do not know what an emo is, therefore if I were to hate you it would be for another reason. I would start by taking offense to the fact you called me a jerk.

You know - I think what most people are reacting to is the term "EMO". It has come to have a negative connotation.
Nature is to be suspicious or wary of things that are different, and yes there are a lot of jerks in this world - and specifically answering Yahoo Answer questions.
But I say - celebrate your differentness. You are chosing to show your differentness on the outside, and that takes great courage. Other people with less courage will try to hide their differentness, and also try to divert attention away from their differentness by picking on others. Hang in there and know that basically we all are freaks on the inside.

Why would I hate emo people?? That seems quite a generalization because how can I ever know them all. I would really like to get to know more about this subculture.

I find emos tiresome because they seem to want to be different and unconventional but yet they all look the same.Also looking miserable for relatively no reason is pretty pathetic. yes the world is a sad unfair place.people starve and die.emos do not. there are no emos in africa.i would respect emos more if they tried to make the world a better place.wearing black and looking sullen constantly does not help.

I don't hate emo people, I just think it's a little annoying, but I know and am friends with some emo people...
Also, don't be so whiny... that's why emo people get on my nerves! I don't understand how, you can think it's cool to be whiny and depressed!!

The thing I dislike about emos is only if they are doing it to be part of the group, I don't like the fact how some take pride in cutting their wrists. There isn't anything to take pride of if you are depressed, the whole concept is even pretty contradictive. I don't mind if someone is depressed and cuts their wrists, but it makes it stupid when they think it is cool.
