Did u know that Washington's Farewell Address used to be considered to be one of the most important peices of literature in American schools. It used to be required. Do you know why it is no longer required? Because Washington clearly states in his Farewell Address that A nation cannot prosper without following some set of morals. He makes numerous references to the fact that if we take the Bible out of our schools that our nation will not succeed.

And also why is it that people turn a blind eye to the fact that the people that drew up the constitution clearly state that the Bible should not be taken out of the school.

Its part of a changing society with increasing religious diversity. There is nothing anybody can or should do about it. The morals taught in the bible are pretty much taught throughout the world anyways (dont steal, kill, commit adultury, etc.). A child by the age of 10 has already learned all that stuff because its common sense. Our forefathers probably didn't understand that the world wouldn't collapse without the bible because they hadn't seen the world without a bible.

This nation was also built on religous freedoms, thus with the bible being mandatory it infringed on others rights to beleive as they will and not be forced to practice things they do not beleive. Our forefathers were wise for their time, but that was long ago and to try to reinstate the bible in schools now would only lead to public out cry and back lash. We have become more tolerante to other peoples and cultures from then to now. Although some may not agree with it, the progress we have made has helped not harmed our country. Bear in mind as well, in his time there were also laws about donkeys not sleeping in bathtubs. Would that really make sense for todays world?

We discard anything with "fore" in it, whether forefathers or foreskin... you get the drift.
