Would things be better or worse for the United States? Economically where would we stand? How would his election have affected the US post Sept. 11?

We would be under Islamic rule. Just like Jimmy Carter, in 1979, when the U.S. Embassy was attacked in Tehran, he did nothing; Gore would have done nothing when the towers were hit on September 11, 2001. The Muslims would have found us so passive, they would have just rushed in and taken over our country. Democrats ar wimps and cowards.

I'm not sure but I know Al Gore is not the same stiff necked, unconfident looking man everyone thought he was.

From day one he said the Iraqi war was a bad idea, yet people in Congress backed George Bush, then fast forward several years later and we have Congress changing their mind. All the while, Al Gore stood by his conviction. He has a military background, what do you expect?

The fact that he cares about the environment (Inconvenient Truth) is a great thing. I find that very progressive and impressive for a likely president in this day and age. I was not old enough to vote in the 2000 election (shy by two years) but if I could I would have voted for him. I hope he runs for the democratic candidate in 08' because then he would have my ticket. Otherwise I think Bush nor any other Republican does not stand a chance in the next election.

The world will have 100,000 more innocent people in Iraq alive; Almost 3,000 more mothers would have their sons and daughters home next thanksgiving for turkey dinner; Cindy Sheehan included; Sadam would probably have murdered a few thousand more kurds, but there would be law and order in Iraq; US would be in better military shape and so would not currently be under threat of Iran and North Korea; Israel would not have had to invade Lebanon because Gore would have been actively involved in Middle East policy; People would not have been abandoned and left to die on roofs in New Orleans while their President was giving a speech to his base voters at a veterans day memorial in San Diego; I could go on for a year of Sundays - but I will end with : We would be respected in the World today and our great grandchildren will be guaranteed a sunny day!!!!!

Clearly Bush supporters can only look at the $$$$$ consequences of a Presidency - what about human lives you idiots. Also Bush has made this place a lot less safe. Why? Because Iraq ia a breeding ground for terrorists.... because he is so hated and has invaded the sacred land of other cultures rendering him the most hated US president of all time, abroad. Wake up America.

Good question but hard to answer.

Would he have ignored the intelligence re 9/11?

I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have dropped the ball on Afghanistan and Bin Laden to fight an internationally unpopular and ill- advised war in Iraq. So those 2,600 soldiers would still be alive.

Would he let the power companies send their own employees to run the EPA? Doubtful - so it would probably still be safe for pregnant women and children to eat tuna, instead of the mercury warnings we have in effect today. Also the US would be on board with the Kyoto protocol and US companies would be competitive with the world in devising ways to curb CO2 emissions.

We would also be at the forefront of stem cell research, instead of shackled with eight years in the penalty box while the rest of the world's researchers forge ahead.

Well, we wouldn't have such an enormous national debt that everybody's grand kids will have to deal with, and all the billions that we've wasted on that sand pit in Iraq could have gone to much better uses here at home. Our standing in the world wouldn't be as deplorable as it is either.

Hey Cindy, why did Reagan cut and run in Somalia in 1983?? And why has Bush done NOTHING about border security since 9/11??

If Gore won the 2000 election, our economy would still be reeling from the post dot.com bubble burst recession. He would have *raised* taxes for his "creative solutions", which would have made things worse, and in 2004, a disgusted and disillusioned populace would have voted in a Republican in a landslide, a la Johnson and Carter. More US soldiers would have died in the war, as it is likely that he really would have reacted to 9-11 with a "massive and disproportionate" response.

No way of knowing, BUT if were elected and things ended up just like they are now, the Republicans would be crucifying him , calling for his impeachment and considering him the worst president ever.

WELL, I AM QUITE SURE GORE WOULDN'T HAVE STARTED THE ELECTIVE WAR BASED ON A FALSE PREMISE IN IRAQ. AND WITHOUT HAVING THAT DISTRACTION PERHAPS HE WOULD HAVE CAUGHT THE PEOPLE THAT CAUSE 9/11. INSTEAD OF FOCUSING TOO MUCH ENERGY ON BS.

Much worse. I honestly believe that 9/11 would have resulted in a massive depression. Gore would have kept taxes as they were and the failure to fight terrorism (like Clinton) would have probably caused more attacks here at home. It would have been devastating.
