What is the best thing to say when you see your boss on the first day? Do you thank them again for hiring you or what?

Thanks!

I'd say don't thank them for hiring you on your first day. That will make you seem like you were kinda desperate for the job.

Instead, say something like good morning, how are you? it's great to be here. Hopefully the boss will have work for you to do, or your immediate supervisor if it's a different person. Show up on time and smile, and have confidence that you belong there.

Just my 2 cents

I wouldn't necessarily say thank you, but if you report to them on your first day, then you can simply say "Good morning, I'm so-and-so, hired for this. Who do I need to see or what do I need to do to get started? Odds are your boss or someone is expecting you on your first day, so don't worry.

Good Morning, and that your are looking to hit the ground running. Don't thank them again, just show your appreciation by working hard.
