Odd. I can't think of why an officer would or should be able to do that.
If you believe that you lost your job because of what the police did, and you think you can prove that, you should consult with an attorney.

The officer should never call anyone to check on you. He should believe anything you say, click his heels three times and return to Kansas. I think you may be in the Land of Oz.
You broke the law, probably more than once, had your license suspended and the judge was nice enough to let you drive to and from work. You were checked by an officer doing his job and now you're whining. Maybe you will pay a little more attention to the rules of the road in future.
You should live in California. My son-in-law lost his job because of a fire. The company shop and office burned down. While looking for another job he fell behind in his child support, they pulled his license and now he has to be chauffeured to and from work. BTW, he wasn't breaking any traffic laws, and transportation is necessary while he is at work. At this point he has to count on his crew members to get him from job to job.
Something tells me you got off pretty easy.

The reason he stopped you was for speeding and no other. All he could do is give you a citation. He had no right to ask or take your cell unless you caused an accident and there are witnesses saying that you were talking on your cell while driving, and even then all he can do is check your cell record to match to time of accident.
Consult an attorney.

.that is a very disturbing testimony! it's not very often that a cop will actually check if your telling the truth or not. they usually make up their mind on the spot, and decide that you are lying. but then again, if it turned out you weren't going to a job interview, he could have you arrested for driving on a suspended liscense. on the other hand, your potential employer should have realized that you wanted the job enough to be speeding to get there. i think your potential employer had very poor ethics and think it might be a good thing you didn't go to work for those assholes anyway

No-the officer should never have made that phone call-he should have at least asked you if he could do that-or allowed you to do that yourself-I would file a complaint-I hope you got his name and badge number

Yes he can check your story to see if it was true. The employer also has the right not to hire you as well.
