how do you tell when a friend doesn't want to be your friend anymore?

they stop talking to you ....avoid you..........try to keep conversations to a minimum.......you can tell by their body language when there in your presence

Habit change.
As we all get older, our priorites changes also. So the first things you see are habit changes. You as a friend will notice and need to ask questions, where you fit in or out during these changes.

I would come right out and ask them. If you can tell by the way they are acting they want it over then I would go my own way .

They started hanging out without you, don't return calls and blow you off when they see you. Have new friends.
Don't waste your time with someone like that, make new friends.

They start to drift away. They stop hanging out with you, stop calling you etc.

They stop talking to you and they avoid you. And when you try to talk to them face to face they ignore you and pretend to not know you.

they start missing your calls and not wanting to hang out with you, and they can also start to lose common interests
