Do we really NEED nudity, swearing, and gore, in our movies?
Alfred Hitchcock could make thrillers without violence and they were great.
Wedding Crashers - very funny - hated the naked women. - watched it with my husband and sons...

Yes there is nothing more embarassing and yet disturbing at the same time, when our family sits down to watch a movie together, that I thought would be okay, then you hear cursing, or sexual content. I love old movies, they were great, didn't need to use sex to sell or swearing. I hear swearing on some sitcoms and soaps nowadays. I agree with Wedding Crahers btw. They didn't need nudity to sell that movie, so why was it even necessary?

I think there are plenty of different movies out there for everyone. The majority of movies that are made are terrible and have no good reason to be in the theaters. Yet, people watch them...

Unnecessary violence, gore, nudity, drugs, sex, etc is quite stupid. But then again, movies are made with an audience in mind, and if any of those things is something that the audience might like, it stays in the movie.

What we really need is just better scripts that touch you in one way or another, even if it has elements that may not be family friendly. If it's REAL, it shouldn't matter.

I do. I really had a treat when I watched Dreamer with Dakota Fanning. That was a family friendly movie for sure. I loved it. Too bad they don't make a lot of 'em like that any more. The reason why they don't is because they think that mindless nudity and cursing will sell. I say let's go back to the days of family values, where you didn't have to worry about your kids hearing or seeing things they shouldn't, and everybody could just sit and enjoy. Watch Dreamer. It's great.

We were just talking about that last night how older movies may have showed shooting but (no blood.. no hole) no gory stuff. Unfortunately most movies (disney) kids movies are trying to target a larger audience.. such as teens and adults (they want more money) this is where these awful jokes that kids shouldnt understand or know come in to play.
Its a money hungry world and as long as it stays that way there will be no decent movies for families..

Thats just like those saying "spend more time with the family and your kids will turn out right" ... Umm.. price for movie ticket... 7.50... bowling... for family of four... over 30.00..... putt-putt... 5-7 bucks a person.... etc...

I totally agree with you, don't they know how to make a movie without cursing and naked people in it........I am sure it would still be good if not better if they didn't add these things...people are not finding the humor in the scene they are only laughing at the language and the violence in the movies....

The only movies I can take my whole family to are Walt Disney's. Needless to say, I'm not that impressed with it but it's all I can feel comfortable with. It's a shame. There's a lot of money movie companies are missing out on.

I know it is hard to find family friendly movie. You really have to look hard to find one that is suitable. I didn't see Wedding Crashers because I don't find Vince Vaughn funny. I think there need to be more pg13 movies.

Well, sometimes I wish movies had actors and actresses who still acted rather than having to rely on bad language etc. I miss those types of movies. So, yeah...family friendly is nice! Better acting!

yep, I would love to be able to take my kids to a movie....unfortunately most of them are way too graphic, we end up at a cartoon movie, which by the way are getting a little over the top as well with some of the suggestiveness and violence
