I was having a conversation with my mom about my younger years and she told me I used to cut the hair off of all the dolls I had, and scribbled their eyes, mouth and lips of with markers until they were unrecognizable. She told me I did this with every doll I have. I have a vague recollection of it but why would I do this?

It's pretty normal for kids to cut hair, their own, their dolls, the cat whiskers...... and coloring the eyes & mouth seems normal too, having seen mommy apply makeup.
Being an armchair amateur psychologist here, I would say what you did to your dolls is very normal, and imitating adult female behavior. You're a girlie girl.

A lot of things we look back on now that we're older seem strange to us. We are always trying to investigate ourselves to diagnose something within. Yes, there may be a psychological problem for why you did what you done. Maybe you were mistreated, felt anger for some person, you were neglected, taunted by kids at school, there could be so many various reasons. If you indeed think you have a problem within yourself that caused your destruction.
Or simply there may be an answer for it that you overlooked. Because people often over look the obvious when their searching for the complex. Maybe you were just a bored little kid or you wanted to create beauty yourself on your dolls.
If you don't feel like there is a problem now for what you did in your younger years I wouldn't pay it no mind. You were simply just a child. Its what children do.

Children many times repeat what the see on a regular basis. Perhaps, you went to the hairdressers with your mom..the barber shop with your dad...or you watched mom put on makeup and do her hair...so you were doing what you saw? It could be almost anything. Maybe a older brother told you your dolls were WATCHING you? and You did not intend for THAT to happen? Maybe the eyes scared you?

If it is not really something you definitely remember, then I am guessing it is not really important.

I did the same thing when I was younger only mine came from my father who left me when I was three. Everytime he gave me a barbie I would cut hair color and bury her in the garden. But I don't know if your parents got divorced or not, but maybe it was just fun because they looked so pretty and you wanted to change them.

I did it too. I remember that I wasn't fond of the dolls and that was just what I did.

Maybe you liked them better that way. I doubt it's anything too deep at that age.

I'm not a psychologist but it seems you have a destructive streak in you. Maybe you felt threatened by their presence, or inferior, or maybe you just thought it was funny, who knows with kids?? I think someone would have to really know you well to figure out exactly why you did it.

Are you still doing it? Because if you are, then you have a problem, little girls do lots of nutty things, you should see what my daughters have done with dolls, but they got over it. Have you?

My daughter did the same thing. When I asked her she said it was to make them look pretty! She also whacked her own hair and got into my makeup for the same reason!

because you were normal. Every kid I've ever met took their aggressions out on their dolls, because they knew it was wrong to take it out on other kids. My kids went so far as to burn every barbie I got them.(after chopping them into little pieces, of course.)
