I wouldn't wash with that right before you put your contacts in because of the alcohol content that may burn your eyes.
Wear only 8-10 hours each day, and try to get a day off every week.

As a contact wearer, I wouldn't reccommend using hand sanitizer before putting in or taking out your contacts. Hand sanitizers have alcohol in them, and alcohol burns in your eyes. Use regular soap and water, rinse well, and dry with a cloth that won't leave fuzzies on your fingers which can transfer into your eyes.
The number of hours (and the number of weeks) that you can wear your contacts depends on what kind of contacts they are. Some contact lenses are approved for overnight wear; some are not. The typical 2-week disposables (Acuvue) are usually not reccommended for overnight, and shouldn't be worn more than 12 hours. 1 month or 2 month disposables can be worn a little longer usually. Contacts approved for overnight wear can sometimes be worn for up to a week, though eye care specialists still reccommend taking them out every night to clean them and give your eyes some oxygen. Your eye doctor can tell you the specifics for your brand of lenses.

I tried the waterless hand sanitizer once it stings your eyes because of the alcohol content inside the hand sanitizer.
And there really isn't a maximum number of hours their suitable for everyday wear just don't sleep with them.

I wouldn't use hand sanitizers then put in contacts because I would worry it would burn my eyes (because of the alcohol) and I was told to wear my contacts no more than 8 hours (even though I do) but I don't sleep in them.

No, don't use the hand sanitizers....the main ingredient is alcohol. I wear mine about 16 hours a day.....they only need to be in the solution for four hours at a time.....but of course, most ppl sleep for app. 8 hours.

1) You are supposed to wash your hands with soap and water before handling your contacts.
2) Lasts about 30 days. You don't have to be religious about it. You know when they are done because they just won't feel right. Your eyes will feel itchy, and you may get a slight burning feeling. Throw the contacts out and put new ones in. I usually take mine out after work...and sleeping in them just dries them out and makes them all yuck. Even a short nap.

use water to rinse hands before touching eyes; hand sanitizers usually contain alcohol
it's ok to sleep in your contacts every once in a while, but take them out every night if it's possible

Use warm water, lather your hand lightly with soap.
Too much soap will stay on hand even once you rinse.
I hate the stingy sensation. This is the way I avoid it.
