What do you think should happen to criminals?

I think murders should be executed upon conviction, rapist gang raped and killed, child molestors the same, and robbers shot dead. I don't believe in probation. Most of the crimes in my city are being committed by repeat offenders out on 'probation"/ I think white color criminals should spend time in prison but the punishment should not be as harsh because their crimes are not violent.

white collar criminals not white color criminals (insurance theft, enron, stuff like that)

I cant exactly agree with you due to the fact there are very very successful attorneys out there that can change a story just as fast as the snap of your fingers. Unfortunately those innocent people will serve time until they are proven innocent. I do however feel the legal system should stop letting these criminals serve only a certain amount of their time and get out on good behavior... "good behavior" that is real funny when someone has commited a crime. Murders getting out early because they had a lot of time to think about their mistakes in prison... come on!!!!. I feel depending on how harsh the crime murders should be sentenced to life. no bail no parole. Molestors should be locked up in a padded cell with nothing and no one.. let them drive themselves insane.

Umm.. as far as your last comment.. it shouldnt matter your race if you do the crime you should do the same time. I dont care who you are or how much money you have.

We don't have the death penalty in Canada. All too often new science (DNA) is finding that some criminals who were serving life sentences while really they were innocent.

If you execute them, how do you bring them back.

I believe that the death penalty should not be used where the guilt had to be proven and deliberated. A criminal that kills two police officers leaving a bank is a good candidate for the death penalty. But a criminal where the murder took months of scientific research to prove, they should serve sentences only.

I share your anger about violent crime, but allowing the state to be in the torture and execution business is inherently dangerous.
If libertarian principles of dumping drug laws for better or worse and allowing every non-criminal to pack heat, you would have some scared criminals and plenty of prison space for the real ones.

This would clear out the system somewhat.

I think we should outsource prisons. We already have private prisons that are contracted, but why not to places like Mexico and India? If it is good enough for a call center, why not a prison?

Lock them behind bars and give them crayons and coloring books for activities.
