Interpersonal communication means direct dialog with another (face to face, by phone, by chatting on the Internet). Impersonal communication is basically in the form of issuance of memoranda, announcements and publications.

I would imagine that Impersonal communication would mean, communicating with other people threw the use of the phone, or internet, or maybe even letter writting. Personal communication would be like talking to someone face to face. I'm sure that's in a round about way, but that's my take on it.

Doing your homework? I'm only giving you one reason and that is indirect communication via technology has become a norm. Communication is not just sending messages but looking at and reading a person too. Emailing and phoning someone you can only talk - but not communicate as you cannot read what the persons body is actually saying. This has deteriorated wildly in the past decade, where we now have kids with low self confidence, cannot handle in person interviews and face to face talking with customers or each other. This is simply because they have spent more time talking rather than learning how to communicate. Especially with people in person and how to read and react to their behaviorism during a conversation.

I believe that impersonal communication means, communicating with people that you do not have a personal relationship with. direct marketing mail, telemarketing, spam, and even door to door sales or advertising are all examples of impersonal communication.
