b/c it looks like none of those countries actually touch the Mediterranean Sea, so I'm at a total loss...

Messed up question. Russia comes the closest, but doesn't border the Mediterranean.

None of those countries are in the Mediterranean area, because (just as you say) none of them touches the Med. Sea.

In cases like this, elimination can help you to figure out the answer, or at least explain your answer to your teacher. Brazil, Canada, USA and Colombia are all in the Americas, so it's not them. Indonesia is in the Pacific, so it's out. Congo is in Africa, so that's not it. This leaves you with Russia, China and India as possible contenders. Of those three, which is closest to the Mediterranean?
