I'm going into 11th grade, my whole life people have known me as the animal kid, I know a lot about animals, some people label me as a know it all geek who wont shut up, I've toned it down over the years, it works, some people just know me as the funny guy, but always remember me as the animal guy, also I tend to talk too much how can I tone that down a bit. I'm trying to start fresh, people at my job, just met me and dont know me, and so far I'm doing good, everyone thinks I'm funny, they know I like animals, but I'm not constantly talking about it, people at my job seem to like me. what can I do?

I would say keep doin what you do. Most of my school life I was known as a "loner" because people didnt see me hangin out with anyone in school. They didnt know what I did outside of school though. A lot of people will probably always remember you as the animal guy but dont let that get you down. Your life and the way people see you is entirely in your hands. If you want people to know you as the funny guy, they will. Your life is what you make it. Dont let anyone tell you otherwise and just be yourself. Dont try to change just to make other people happy. You will end up unhappy.

One way to not talk so much is to ask people questions and really listen to what they say. Really listen and ask follow-up questions rather than turning the conversation back to yourself. You'll have plenty of chances to talk about yourself, and you can still be the funny guy who likes animals, but you'll also learn some interesting things about other people too.

Just relax and stay calm. When you are excited people tend to talk more. Try to listen to what other people are saying instead of you talking let other people talk. You of course can expand on the conversation but make it short.

ummm, not talk about animals at school so much? in high school every one remembers every thing about you. i am going in to 10th grade and i am always going to be remembered as "choir girl" because i was the head soprano as a freshman....no one forgets that, and it gets really aggravating because i like choir, and i love singing, but i m embarrassed to talk about it now that i have a "title". so i guess i will just try to be known for sumthing else, because i m much more than a chorus girl.
