Everything I think of makes me feel like everyone else in my class will write about it or its going to make someone upset when I have to read it out loud. So my assignment once again is to write a persuasive paper on a current controversial issure. If you have any ideas please dont hessitate. Let me know!

You can argue on the exclusion of Pluto for our current Solar System. It is a hot topic. I would argue for it, as it'll be much easier :).

I have written many papers on the topic of organ donation. My dad is a heart transplant receipient. I feel it is so important to address such an important issue. There are so many people waiting (and too often dying) to have a transplant. If people could just understand how hard it is for a person to have to undergo interview after interview just to get on the transplant LIST, not even the guarantee of actually having the lifesaving transplant. Even if you don't do a report on this issue, hopefully you are now more aware of how important and significant one person can be to a complete stranger. I will be forever thankful to the family who lost their 18 year old son because they made the choice to donate his heart so that someone else, a complete stranger, my father, could have another chance at life.
Also, I really don't think that this would be too much of a controversial issue in your class...

My idea is that you read the newspaper and watch the news on TV and take notes. Also (since you're sitting at your computer), go to any search engine like Yahoo! or Google or MSN, and type "news of the world" into the search box and they click on Go or Search, and you will get a whole listing of issues that you can write about. Take your pick.

Write about how foreigners came to this country when only Indians lived here, terrorized them, forced them to march into Canada, where hundreds died, then ousted the rest off the land into reservations. These were some of my ancestors. Then when they were done with the Indians, they went to Africa, kidnapped the people from their land, and brought them here to be slaves. There is a website on the "trail of tears" which is what they called it when the Indians were forced to march out of their land into Canada.

Try a paper on the legalization of hemp (which is not the same as marijuana). Once you start researching the facts and presenting them, you'll see how easy an argument you can make. I got an A with this topic.

There is so much going on in the world today (both good and bad) that there isn't a scarcity of topics to discuss. You have to find one that truly moves you as your passion and emotions will be conveyed in your writing. Good luck!
