I have to write a paper in my Survey of Broadcasting class about some issue in the communications industry.It can't be a really broad topic like violence in the media since it's a short paper.

I'd look into how many companies own the vast majority of the media - newspapers, television, radio.
The way we get our news is being dictated by owners with an agenda.
Or be super topical and describe how blogging is having an impact on the way information is being delivered.

How about a comparison of print media and broadcast media? The former is more thorough but the latter is more timely.
Or... the slow death of landline companies with the proliferation of cellular phones. Tackle the advantages and disadvantages of both.

How about bias? Most communication companies seem to have forgotten their mantra which is to report the news objectively. We have so called news companies clearly aligning themselves politically. This is very dangerous as it leads to misinformation. The news needs to be reported as is with no opinions added in. We the viewers/listeners can then form our opinions based on unfiltered facts.
