If u could time-travel and go back to the past, and then u got killed while u were visiting the past, how is it that u existed at all in the present? or if u killed ur own grandparents in the past, how would still have been able to exist to do that in the first place?
don't send me rude or perverted answers, i'll report you, this is just for fun.

maryjane, who says it has to be science fiction? einstein's theorys didnt make sense to a lot of people either but now we know he was proven right on a lot of things-sorry thinking gives u a headache but lots of people are actually studying things that may be able to answer questions like this today, it's called quantum physics

ha, ha, dr.m says it's a moronic idea---
how so? we travel forward in time, all the time, everytime u fly in a plane & u cross time zones u can get to be ahead a day or even lose a day depending where u go, so time is an illusion anyway and every action on this planet has an equal and opposite reaction. so just because we haven't figured out a way to do it yet does not mean it cannot be done.
i for one think it might be possible to send some objects back in time but not organic ones, without having something weird happen but then again who knows?
no ideas are moronic, what's moronic is the fact that people always try to knock someone down before they can even try something in the first place.

This is called a paradox.

Ah, the paradoxes of time travel. You could even be your own grandparent. How would that work? Or you could go back and make a fortune betting on things for which you already knew the outcome. But if you change the past, could you even come back to the same future? This is fortunately still the stuff of science fiction. Just like I think we aren't ready to meet intelligent life from elsewhere in the universe, I think we aren't ready for time travel, should it ever become possible.

Grandfather paradoxes can be completely resolved by assuming the existence of parallel universes. In that case? Then you could never go back to an exact copy of the past. And from that point forward? You could never go back to an exact copy of the future - or in this case - to an exact copy of the present.
But if parallel universes exist - are there infinite copies of yourself?
In my opinion? YES!
But all that would mean, is that the multiverse has infinite mass, infinite energy, and infinite density. Or something very close to it. And what does that mean?
The multiverse is a hyper dimensional black hole.
It is a singularity that exists OUTSIDE of our normal 4 dimensional universe. That's why we can't feel it. But it exists - and it is there - just the same. And since all the different universes in the multiverse, are separated by a higher dimension, any occupants in those universes wouldn't feel the gravitational effects as well.
# Note: Although string theory states we live in a 10 or 11 dimensional universe, I am referring to the observable dimensions; 3 of space - and 1 of time.

If time travel to the past were to become possible in the future, then why aren't we meeting future selves in this life? Even as the wonders of quantum physics are revealed, I do not think time travel will ever become possible, except on a quantum scale. Positrons are already thought to travel backwards in time, but macro objects never will.
If you think about it, though, we are all traveling forwards in time.

If what you said was possible, then the universe will live in a mechanism called a "parallel universes"
There will be infinite universes, if you toss a coin two universes will be created one in which the result is 'heads' and another in which the result is 'tails'. Similarly when you go back and kill yourself, you create another universe in which you are dead. This is pretty complex to comprehend, and you can have fun in this chaos.

Don;t mean to be rude, but this does not make any sense! This is science fiction stuff and why would anyone want to waste their time thinking about this? It can give someone a major headache!

Time travel is moronic idea and will never happen. If you kill yourself one less time traveler the world will be happy about.

Since you asked, IF one could could travel to the past, I think that anything that person did would result in that person being born and subsequently traveling to the past - in other words, the past is unchangeable.

I think I would exist in a parallel time line, but I would cease to exist in the first one. Hope they have good coffee where I'm going.

grand parents is easy - your parents were already born.
if you were to die it could be that time experienced is only relative to your own existence. your journey back in time would only be a continuation of your current existence.
