Wow, I know how to do it and those other answers got me confused!

I'm presuming you know x^2 + y^2 = z^2

So in your case, you have two points (x,y)

Your x distance is 4 - (-2) = x = 6
Your y distance is 3 - 0 = y = 3

so then you plug it into your formula to get your distance.
6^2 + 3^2 = z^2
z^2 = 45
z = sq rt(45)

Tada! :-)

Use the distance formula

D = sqrt((x1-x2)^2+(y1-y2)^2)

Basically, it's the Pythagorean theorem.

So in this case:

MN = sqrt((-2-4)^2+(0-3)^2) = sqrt(36+9) = sqrt(45) = 3sqrt(5)

Is it in the coordinate system? If that's so, use this:

MN= square root [(y2 - y1)^2 + (x2 - x1)^2]

I hope I had answered your question
