A really great movie is "The Bad Seed" that was an old black & white film from the 1950's. It dealt with a child who was seemingly just born bad, but you can read between the lines & see that the child was actually "groomed" that way. I have NOT been able to find this film anywhere since 1980. The one that is on the market is a new one & it lacks the background of the first original film that ties into the subject matter & gives it a fuller & more complete meaning.

I like the movie Little Secrets. The main character struggles with her identities as a musician, community secret keeper, daughter, new sister to a newborn.

Another movie with the same actress is Thirteen. She deals with darker subjects in this movie: sex, drugs, petty crime. Incidently this was written by an adolescent who moved out on her own when she was fourteen!

"Joe the King" is a gritty, hard look at one boy's struggle. Val Kilmer plays an interesting part in this one as well.
