i just realized after a few years of blogging, that i am done with livejournal. i am tired of drama from people on the internet..so i will not be using it as a social tool anymore(i also deleted myself from the other forums i am a part of).
i pay $80+ a month for internet/unlimited long distance...should i just get rid of the internet and long distance and buy a phone card to use when needed?
i mean, i am an internet junkie. but i really feel i need to move on and start living my life. would disconnecting it be the best step for me? i mean i could probably find lot's of other things to do with that extra $80 in my pocket.
or is the internet necessary inorder to live in the world today? i don't have cable...never plan on getting it...i am happy with just movies.
what do you guys think? keep or disconnect?

If the internet is preventing you from living a full life, then perhaps it would be best to get rid of it. If you don't feel you can keep from logging on all the time instead of going out to do something else, then you should get rid of it. If your only conversations during the day are typed, then definitely get rid of it.
But if you feel you can limit the amount of time you spend online, then keep it around for research or entertainment purposes.

The internet is an dispensible research tool and source of information. At the very least, I'd keep it for those reasons.

The internet is also a social networking/ communication device that brings people together. It can be addictive and make you isolated. I'm all in favor of you getting offline more and enjoying yourself.

People had happy lives before the Internet and you can still that now. Moderation is the key. But like I said it's hard to live in the world today with the internet as a source of information.

As for communications, that's a personal choice. I use it for emails, a little chat, basketball forums. For my phone calls, I use this prepaid calling card: http://speedypin.com

Good Luck!

If you use the Internet for things other than socialization, I would keep it. I would keep my unlimited long distance either way because it gets expensive making those calls you don't even think twice about with unlimited calling.

The Internet is not necessary, of course. It is a luxury, more than anything. It comes in quite handy when you need it but can cause you a lot of headaches at times. The decision is totally up to you and good luck in deciding what's best.

Get rid of it.

If you need to keep in touch with someone via email or look up some information you can always use a computer at the library for free.

I'd keep the internet. It is more than just chatting. You can research everything you can think of. You can learn how to do things. Internet opens up a new world.

Don't get rid of the Internet, just use it more carefully. The Internet is so much fun, you would go into major withdrawal if you got rid of it entirely!
