Get a big magnet and wave it near your monitor. It will suck things back towards the left.

Vista, no. yet XP is probable a "certain"...I have an previous Sony VAIO C1 which had VERY low specs and replaced into designed for ME, yet I loaded XP on it and it replaced into actually faster! XP does make some improvements. the very shown reality that that is qualified for ME is somewhat nebulous - what concerns are the honestly equipment specs. examine my link. once you're more effective than those criteria you're good to pass! EDIT: both structures I run it on are as follows. One is a Dell with a P3-667 Celeron. It has 128mb RAM, 8MB video memory and a 10GB hardcontinual. that is totally usable. the different is a Sony C1 with a 20GB hardcontinual, 800mhz Crusoe processor and 256mb of RAM - 8MB only for the video as well. the human beings who say you want a lot more effective are incorrect. that is totally usable like that, do exactly not run too many classes right away. I keep them both stripped down.

OK try the following
point your mouse at the empty space on your screen.
Press the Right Mouse Button.
A short menu will appear on the screen.
Keep your mouse pointer at the place
where it is written " Arrange Icons By"
Then a new menu will appear on the screen.
You will see "Show Desktop Icons" written halfway down the list.
See if there is a checkmark in front of it.
If there is no checkmark,
Take your mouse pointer to it, and press Left mouse button once.
As soon as you check it, You will see all of your Desktop Icons back on your screen.

you could try system restore
if you have put in any programs after it stuffed up remove them first then do a system restore.
start/all programs/accessories/system tools/sytem restore.
another way would be to go start /control panel/add and remove programs. in there you can add and remove windows programs
put your xp disk in and the pc will take it from there.
or do a repair with the xp disk. good luck.
if its just icons gone not program hit start and right click a blank area of it and go properties

Those are folders or icons, and yes, it is possible to get it back. Just unplug the compu...just kidding! ;) Right-click on your desktop and go to properties, then go to desktop, then customize desktop. You'll see a lot of options for hiding/showing icons on your desktop. If that doesn't work there are programs out there to show and hide the desktop. It's also build into Windows XP but it isn't an easy 'point and click' solution. Hope this helped!
