1: Smaller government
2: Not having to rely on the government to hold your hand through life (something liberals want)
3: Lower taxes and even the elimination of some taxes
4: More military funding
5: Tougher military stance on the war on terror and the defense of our country.
6: No Clinton sex scandals.
7: Traditional American values (Christian nation, for example) preserved rather then being taken away by liberals
8: Free market system in the Capitalistic society
Need I say more?

There is no direct benefit to being either Conservative or Liberal. Acquiring either label is the result of making value judgments about what you perceive as the best course for human society.
Liberals see society as an extended family. Within our families we share things, even food when food is scarce. We're all prepared to willingly make sacrifices for our loved ones. Liberals expand and extend this idea to encompass all people. Within that context, Liberals view anyone how accumulates wealth and resources as a traitor to the group, someone who is hurting the extended "family." Voluntary contributions are not sufficient in their view. All must be compelled to share so that all can receive a "fair" share. Conservatives disagree with that of course.
What are the assumptions then, that underlie the Liberal obsession with redistribution? At the root I believe, is a basic misunderstanding of economics. Within their mental model of a family, resources are finite. They see it as a zero-sum game, and for one to have more, others must have less. That family analogy, that temporal snapshot of a group with finite resources, breaks down COMPLETELY at the macro-economic level.
Conservatives point out (quite fairly) that wealth is increasing over time. Each person is free to compete in the market, and to create some of that new wealth for him or her self.
If you believe that each person should be responsible for their actions, and for providing for themselves and their dependents, then you ARE a Conservative. If on the other hand you believe that people are not qualified to take care of themselves and need government to take care of them, somewhat like parents take care of children, then you're a Liberal.

Since I am a working person I can't afford to be a liberal. Someone needs to bring in a paycheck. All kidding's aside, there are many reason I am a conservative. I hate taxes, I hate inefficiencies (government programs), I am against big unions, I also hate the far the left and what they are doing to the morality of this country. I guess my most left stance would be on the environment, and animal rights. (not as far as pita though). I have tried to understand liberals, and I am just too much of a logical thinker and most of the time they just make so sense to me.

The benefit is preserving the principles on which this country was founded - especially individual freedom and personal responsibility. What we aim to conserve is actually the classical liberal principles we had in the beginning. Liberals today are anything but liberal in the true sense of the word. Today it has come to mean basically socialist. That is why people who were liberals in the original sense of the word had to start calling themselves libertarians. Today's "Liberals" hi-jacked the term.

That word has lost its meaning. There used to be great conservatives like Eisenhower and Goldwater, but no more.

It would be nice if people did not have the liberty of being on welfare and having eight babies they don't even take minimal care of. Those babies will likely grow up to be criminals, drug addicts, or pregnant teens. People don't need unlimited liberty. They need to have their behavior regulated. Many humans are very close to their evolutionary predecessors.

If I were corruptable and had no morals or compassion, being a conservative would be the better fit for me.
