It was an un-venomnous barb..this sounds fishy

there have been a total of 17 deaths from stingrays around Australia since 1969.

Irwin was at Batt Reef, off the remote coast of northeastern Queensland state, shooting a segment for a series called "Ocean's Deadliest" when he swam too close to one of the animals, which have a poisonous barb on their tails, his friend and colleague John Stainton said.

"He came on top of the stingray and the stingray's barb went up and into his chest and put a hole into his heart," said Stainton, who was on board Irwin's boat at the time.

Yes, terribly sad.
He's the second to die that way in Austrailia. The first was about 18 years ago...I just heard that on TV.

The barb went THROUGH his heart. The thing wouldn't have to be poisonous in that situation...

that stingray was sick of listening to that annoying schtick of his and finally had enough...too bad he was good for making jokes..i guess we will have to make up some new croc hunter jokes now....its beauuuutifulll opeughhhhbluibblublblubahhhoghhhhh.....
