I recently bought a bunch of new American Rag Ts and Long Sleeve shirts (50% Cotton, 50% Polyester). The sleeves are one color, and the main torso part is either white or just a different color. I've washed them all about 2 times so far, and I was wondering about how many more washes it will take to make it so i don't have to worry about seperating the lights from the darks. I'd much rather just throw them all into one washer, cause as it is, each wash costs $1.25. Also it'd be a lot more convenient. Thanks a bunch ^_^

$1.25!!!! Wow! I want to live where you live. It costs me $2per wash and $2 per dry in my building. If I cart my laundry to the laundry mat(I look like a bum doing it but I don't care) it costs $1.50 per wash and .25cents for each 5 minutes to dry(usually costs $1.75 to dry). I can put two loads in the dryer at the laundry mat and it's better than the dinky little dryers at my building(that doesn't dry all my clothes and takes an hour) Going to the laundry mat cuts my bill in half you should try it.......$1.25....you have nothing to worry about. A lot of times certain fabrics always run no matter what. If you don't mind that your whites are little bit tinted blue, gray or pinkish then go for it. I do it sometimes. I know if you wash your jeans in vinager the first time you wash it, it won't fade it's color. Maybe it can keep the dye from running too, I'm not sure. Or you can try handwashing the certain items your not sure will run and the color of the water will tell you if you can mix it with your whites. Also, make sure if you do mix your colors with your whites that you don't let it sit for to long after it's done washing or it will stain your whites. Maybe you should just have two hampers... one for lights and one for darks so you don't have to worry about seperating. Hope that wasn't too useless.

You can add salt to the water. I think you add about 1/2 cup of salt to some water. Allow the shirt to soak for a few hours then wash it out. The salt helps sent the colors.
