I love that song it is like one of my all time favorites!
It was sung by twin brothers who called themsevles the proclaimers i think they also may have wrote it but i'am not sure about that!

The Proclaimers as you now know as have already gotten your answer. They are twin brothers from Scotland. That song is on their Sunshine on Leith album and also on the Benny and June soundtrack where it first took off. Personally I like Misery to Happiness song better but 500 Miles is good too.
