mhoho couldn't be more wrong. There were not only terrorists in Iraq before the war, there were training camps for them. Some of them were even used by some al-queda operatives. There are are great many more there today. They come over from Syria, Iran, Pakistan and other points of the Muslim world. This is not a bad thing, but actually proves and justifies Bush's strategy of engaging them on their home turf rather than on ours. If we pull out now before the new Iraqui army is ready to handle them, the terrorists will count it as their victory and will thus be emboldened to take the country away from the 17 million Iraquis who risked life and limb to vote for another way of life.
We owe it to them and all those that have so far fought and died to help civilize that corner of the world to stay in the fight just a little bit longer.
We are not so much haunted by what we did to Japan as we are ashamed of it. We need not be of course. It was self defense. We might have lost another million Americans taking Japan city by city. Better to have taken out a million of them and bring the war to a quicker close.
What really bothers cut and runners like mhoho is the notion of America actually winning this war. They believe that we are the problem with the world and therefore should lose the war. Fortunately most Americans are pretty sick and tired of people who hate us. We realize it is nothing but fear and envy that feeds their hatred (fear of our might and envy of the values that make our civilization superior to anything they have to offer).
We are waking up. I predict that before W leaves office Iran will learn exactly what can happen when America decides it's not going to put up with anything from anyone any more.

The only way America will wake up to the threat of terrorism is when the terrorists are walking through the streets of our cities gunning down civilians. Until that time liberals will be screaming for peace and love and that the terrorists are just misunderstood.
We are haunted as you stated by dropping the bomb in Japan due to the fact the press loves a good sob story and all is forgiven when you plaster crying children on the front page... As with Hiroshima vs Pearl Harbor. The Japanese killed military personnel and sank ships -- the US bombed a city that had civilians in it. Bad press coverage is our undoing every time.
Thinking it over............ I could be wrong.....the liberals would probably be out shaking hands and trying to get them to register to vote.

When we take the bull by the horns and ignore the crazy a** liberals in this country. Their theory, sit on our hands and wait to die! Pulling out of the Middle East would be the biggest mistake this country could EVER make. God help us all with the next election if a democrat wins, God help us all.

Humm. The best thing to do at this point would INDEED be to get out of Iraq. Although there were NO terrorists in Iraq BEFORE the U.S. invaded and occupied that country, they are certainly deeply entrenched now.
And who said the USA was being "politically correct"? The Iraqi factions are killing each other or so we are told. Saves us the trouble it appears.
Muslims aren't out to "kill" you and "our society." Seems to me they just want the U.S. OUT.
And of course we are haunted by the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. We'll be FOREVER haunted. Japan may well be a small country but they haven't forgotten either. For all we know,
despite the smiling face of Prime Minister Koizumi and his "liking Elvis", underneath it all, he may well be waiting patiently for the great U.S.A. to fall on her sword.
I wouldn't worry so much about the obvious. It's under control.
I'd worry more about what is NOT so obvious.
Ceasar:
Who are you kidding? The US has absolutely no plans to leave Iraq. Not now. Not ever. She's built a huge military compound costing millions in taxpayer monies. She tells us she is bringing home troops on one page, and then she turns around and deploys more troops on the other.
I don't agree about Nagasaki and Hiroshima. History, scholars and well informed sources tell us that the United States simply chose to flex its mighty muslces, even given that Japan was ready to give up . When she dropped those bombs, she promised she would not target civilians. Then she did.The result? Hundreds of thousands needlessly gone. In one fell swoop.
I'm not talking about 'cut 'n run' as YOU understand it.
What I mean is that the USA should remove its troops from Saddam's 70 palaces; that it should remove its contractors and support staff from Saddams 7-mile long Green Zone, and that it should take care of the basic needs (clean water, sewerage, electricity..((and no, they are still not up to par)) of the Iraqi people as they promised to. What I mean is to get all NON-MILITARY PERSONNEL OUT OF THAT COUNTRY!
What I mean is that the great United States of America should set up shop elsewhere.
You see, the Iraqis resent us. They resent us because so few of them are allowed inside the walls of that 7-mile Green Zone now occupied by thousands of US contractors and support staff.. They resent us because we hide behind a facade of unending unkept promises; they resent us because while americans live in the luxury of Saddam's endless palaces., they are forced to live in fllth, squalor and degradation. They resent us because the US believes it has the right - the absolute right - to take and use the best of Iraq's belongings at will.
They resent us because we kill innocents so relentlessly.
They resent us because we occupy THEIR land
They resent us
....and rightly so.
And please. The first part of your answer sounded just like George W. Bush. Almost word for word. Discontinue sipping from the common cup of Bush's limited knowledge. And that of his cronies.
Try thinking for yourself..
"Political correctness"?
...outlined above.
I'm a lot smarter than you think......
