it lasted three weeks and my period this month has lasted two weeks and looks like it will last another week or so. has anyone had this happen to them? what do you think it could be?

yes happened to me. my first period with breastfeeding lasted a while and was heavy breastfeeding makes the contractions stronger and further apart thus the longer period, it also delays your first one after you give birth mine wasnt until my son was 4 months. good luck and congrats on the baby

Nursing suppresses ovulation. Often a woman won't have a period for a very long time if she nurses for a prolonged time in a regular sequences. I would need to know if you are still nursing and a number of other questions. Often after a woman has a baby even if she nurses she will have a prolonged bleeding after delivery. Mine often lasted up to 6 weeks, but I did not have a period until I stopped nursing. If for example you only nurse infrequently or have long times between nursing your periods will return. Giving supplemental bottles or being away from the baby will cause your period to return sooner.

i heard that woman who breastfeed don't have normal periods it's a benefiet my friend still breast feeds her 1 year old and she told me she just started getting her period.
