I think that baby products are designed to be gentle on babies skin. I still use them on my 3 year old, but I also have a 1 1/2 yr old so the products are just there. It doesn't hurt by any means to continue their use. Just use gentle products and be careful when rinsing the soap out of the hair, not to get it in the eyes. If a rash develops, go back to baby product for a while. At least one year for sure.

I don't know "when" but I do know that my grandchildren are still using these products today.....the oldest who is 9 just started using adult shampoo because she can close her eyes tight enough to keep from burning. Most of them started using ivory soap when they were 5 or 6 years old. Only those under 4 still use the lotions and creams for babies.

Pretty much, all of that stuff is just a gentler version of normal shampoo, soap, lotion, etc. With my son, I started using normal products (with the shampoo being tear-free kids shampoo) about the same time he started on solid foods.
As long as it's not irritating their skin, you should be able to switch them over. You may want to consult with your pediatrician. They would probably be able to give you a more exact answer - I think it really just depends on the child and their sensitivity to various products.

The only "baby" product I use on my son is baby shampoo, and that's because I wash his face with it too and I don't want to worry about it getting in his eyes. Oh, and the special toothpaste. I stoped using everything, even Dreft, the baby detergent when he was about 6 months old. You can try your products out on your baby to see if he/she has a reaction to them, if not then you're good to go. If regular products dry their skin out, then I would go back, but I never had this problem, and I don't even use lotion on him. My peditrition says it's not necessary, their skin will produce enough oils to lubricate them. But if they do get dry, like in the winter, then you can use a good lotion, but I think most people lather their kids in baby stuff because they like the smell, makes them smell like a "baby".

Try this when the kid turns a year old try regular products this way you feel comfortable and don't have to worry about any allergic reactions. My son was real young when he began to use adult soap etc.,before he was a year old. Not once did he get an allergic reaction. Here is something a new mother should know right away every child is not the same, don't have the same habits, and most important they have the same allergic reaction. Like I said for your comfort try it when he is a year old. The other choices will just come on it's own due time, don't worry.

a lot depends on the child...... sensitive skin ? keep using...... the shampoo anyway, and maybe the body wash.... body wash I use till they are at least 2 yrs, shampoo the same, then go to the tears free kids....... lotion ? well I LOVE that smell, so I used as long as they will let me... at least also till 2 yrs..... but that is up to you and your budget........ but, watch out, some baby shampoos tend to break out the childs head...... and can make cradle cap worse....... but in short, after 2 yrs most baby stuff can be switched to childrens stuff......... God bless

Until their skin is not as sensitive as when they are babies. Also beware--most baby products on the market contain a lot of toxic ingredients. Try to use all natural like Burt's Bees or California Baby. You can get a list of safe products on the Skin Deep report on ewg.org.

My auntie's pediatrician said don't use baby shampoo at all. The ingredients that make it "tearless" ruin the kids hair. That's why some babies hair looks so stupid.
Look at the ingredients on the lotions, soaps and whatever, yep, all the same. Doesn't make a difference. Fragrance stings, but other than that, use what you want, when you want.

My daughter is 19 months and i still use baby products on her. i do use adult conditioner on her hair cause its really long and it helps to keep it from tangleing so badly. Suggestion is that you use baby products until the baby learns to close thier eyes when washing face and hair.
