the Great Barrier Reef or has it made you fearful of the unknown elements of the ocean and made you not want to see the Reef or come to Australia at all?

i was just wondering what the rest of the world think....

i live in Cairns, Australia...dive the reef, including Batt Reef, and am planning a trip next week to pay my respects...this in no way will stop me from exploring the Great Barrier Reef!

2 State Troopers were ambushed and shot, one is dead and the other is in critical condition.

Who gives a rats butt about a guy doing stupid things? When real hero's risk their lives everyday for us.

It would be silly to be afraid of the Great Barrier Reef. Stingrays aren't usually fatal, and they very rarely actually pierce someone. This was just a freak accident.

gives me more reason to see it all and do it all. look at all the crap that man did and all the things he's seen, places he's been, so on and so on. I wanna do that too and if I get stabbed in the heart by a stingray, then I have seen enough. and man i would looooove to see australia. all parts of it. 911 didnt stop me from flying or traveling overseas, a killer stingray wont stop me from diving. but i will miss "crickey!"

When I called my daughter and son-in-law and told them (because I didn't want to have to tell my 8 year old grandson about it tomorrow).
My son-in-law said it was a sissy way to die. He was hoping he got eat by a crocodile......He said he didn't expect Steve Irwin to die by a stingray barb. He said the guy should have gone out in a blaze of glory.

Steve died doing what he loved, but we must always respect the sea. It is a very dangerous place and the things that live in there dont like us. It's easy to forget that when you see its beauty.

RIP Steve.
