Then I'd say Mac. Macs are ideal for any types of designers. PC's are more for gamers and business people. But if you want to use a Mac for school you would have to buy Microsoft Office.

It is expensive but worth it. It has all the major PC applications. And as for the user reviews you either love the product or hate it. I have it and I don't have any problems with it. The users who gave it bad reviews probably have old Macs. As long as you buy a new Mac you won't have a problem.

Macs are more expensive but they are worth it. For PC's you need virus protections and you have to update that every year (wich costs more money), however Macs don't get viruses and I have never had a problem with mine thus far. PC's are ussually bigger and if you are a student you need space so the Mac would be a better deal. iLife 06' (which comes with the Mac) has iWeb which will help you create websites and everything.

Now I hope this doesn't seem like I'm trying to sell you a Mac, cause I'm not, I get nothing out of it. If you were a gamer or a business person I would say go for the PC. But you are/wan't to be a designer.

The best way I can put this is that a Mac is like the Right side of your brain. It deals with imagination and creativity (I think that designers fall under that catagory). And a PC is like the left side of your brain. It deals with facts and logic (business people and the video games cause the PC has more games availible for it and when you play games you use logic). I have both, an old PC which I play games on and a Mac which I use for Photoshop and image editing (mostly for school).

My opinion get a Mac.

Well as uoi have noticed it is a matter of personal taste, i've used everything from old 8088 PC's to latest offereings, and MAC's going back to the original LISA all the way up to the moedern Intel beasts. Mac's are definately better for graphics work and always have been. You need to decide what you will using it for most, a modern PC will do everthing well, but for more specialised applications you'd be much better off with a Mac. I can't add much more to the other comments here, so good look and I hope you sort something out !!!

Mac.
Mac.

It has the best software for editing and it uses a special code to load and upload files from the hardrive 6 times faster than in windows xp.

Mac has almost all the good programs from windows so dont worry and if not you can run windows on a intel mac twice as faster.

With mac no virus and no crashes, in 4 months i have my mac, not one crash.

Macs can run linux programs too win x11 and crossover will release soon at 50 dolars a program to run windows apps on an intel mac.

a Linux MAC!!!.... Honestly, NOW-A-DAYS it doesn't matter because now Mac's run Intel processors. I would though suggest a mac regardless, because they are VERY quick, and their processors have twice as much pipelines & does more work per clock cycle than intel or amd. If your doing light graphic editing, there's no problem in using either mac or pc. even web design. It's when you get into rendering 3D motions & production of music is when you need the extra power a Mac delivers

This question is going to get a lot of arguments. Try them both out and decide for yourself. I myself, prefer PCs for many reasons. I have friends that swear MACs are the greatest things in the world though. If you need something cost-effective, a PC would be the way to go. If you're financially stable, then you get to choose. ;)

Mac is better for photoshop and other grapical programs. It is however usually more expensive and less "open". The tradeoff is it is more stable. But in your field u need a Mac, and you will kind of get browny points from people in the field for having one.
