The hole in males boxers/boxer brief/and pajamas are for their genital region to fit thru.

Yes the hole in men's underwear is so they can urinate without taking off their pants.
Not really a matter of being lazy. In by gone times men had to be on th alert for danger at all times. When your pants are down aruond your knees you are a tad bit vulnerable. (Keep in mind that in times past you rarely saw a woman earing pants, Used to be women oculd hike up thier skirts to use the bathroom.)
Even though men nolonger have to stay on the alert the fashion has remained. It is a real time saver.

Put your 2 fingers in. pull out your thing and pee, dont forget to shake it well after use. Stub it in back and zip up and walk out. Do you figure?

The whole is called a fly and it's similar to what's in jeans.. but bassically it is for a man to be able to pee without taking his pants off.
